BAN vs NZ, 2nd Test, Mirpur: New Zealand win series after Bangladesh draw (1:0)

New Zealand and Bangladesh drew the rain-affected second test yesterday when both captains agreed to halt the contest 40 minutes before the scheduled close on the final day, handing the tourists a 1-0 series victory.
New Zealand had reached 79-1 in their second innings, a lead of 172, after Bangladesh had earlier narrowly avoided following on to dash the visitors' hopes of securing an unlikely win in a match that lost more than three days to the weather
Resuming after tea on 34-1, New Zealand, who won the first test by three wickets in Chittagong last week, added 45 runs in 19 overs as the contest petered out into a draw. Opener Aaron Redmond (30) and Jesse Ryder (39) were unbeaten at the close after Bangladesh had limped past the follow-on target of 162.
Bangladesh were lifted by all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (49) and bowler Mashrafe Mortaza (48), who batted cautiously to salvage the home side's innings with a seventh-wicket partnership of 78 to overcome a fine bowling display by Daniel Vettori. New Zealand skipper Vettori finished with figures of 5-66, his 17th five-wicket haul in tests, and Iain O'Brien chipped in with three victims for 31 as Bangladesh reached 169-9 after lunch before the home side declared 93 runs behind the tourists.

BAN vs NZ, 1st Test, Chittagong: Vettori guides New Zealand to 3-wicket win

Captain Daniel Vettori's second half century of the match and his 82-run sixth-wicket stand with Daniel Flynn helped New Zealand come back for a three-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Tuesday's final session of the first cricket Test.
Vettori helped steer New Zealand to 281 for five at tea on the last day, needing another 36 runs to reach the 317 target. But he was bowled for 76 by Abdur Razzak after ushering the tourists to 298, 19 runs short of the win. Bangladesh left-arm spinner Shakib al Hasan picked up another wicket, dismissing Flynn on 49, with the teams tied at 316. Flynn, whose knock came off 126 balls with six boundaries, was denied a maiden half century when he only needed a single to bring up the victory. Jacob Oram (8) and Kyle Mills (1) were unbeaten at the finish when New Zealand reached 317 for seven.
Razzak took three wickets for 93 runs and Hasan got 2-82, giving him nine wickets for the match in an impressive bowling performance. Vettori, who also scored 55 in the first innings and took nine wickets, was adjudged man of the match.

Ross Taylor hit a fighting hundred to help New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 79 runs in the third and final one-day international here on Tuesday for a 2-1 win in the three-match series.
The 24-year-old Taylor, who scored 103 for his third one-day century, carried New Zealand to a decent 249-7 in 50 overs before the visitors restricted Bangladesh to 170-8. Bangladesh were seeking their first series win over a major Test playing country before a 14,000 capacity crowd at the Divisional Stadium, but it was the tourists who took the honours.
"We would have loved to make it 3-0 but a win is a win," said New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori. "Taylor set up the win and had we not lost (Jacob) Oram early we were targetting 300 runs. But 250 was a decent target," said Vettori.
In reply, only Tamim Iqbal (35) batted with authority for the hosts as paceman Kyle Mills initiated the slump by removing opener Zunaed Siddique (one) before Oram dismissed debutant Imrul Kayes (12) and skipper Mohammad Ashraful (eight) in his incisive five-over first spell. Off-spinner Jeetan Patel then took over, dismissing dangerous-looking local boy Iqbal and then accounting for Shakib Al Hasan (one) to end all hopes of Bangladesh successfully chasing the target.

Jacob Oram scored an unbeaten 75 and Kyle Mills took three wickets for 13 to lead New Zealand to a 75-run win against Bangladesh in the second limited-overs cricket international Saturday, levelling the three-match series 1-1.
Bangladesh's bowlers restricted New Zealand to a modest 212 for nine after skipper Mohammed Ashraful won the toss and put the visitors in to bat on a slow pitch at Dhaka's Mirpur National Stadium. But Bangladesh's run chase got off to a bad start as Mills trapped opener Tamim Iqbal lbw for a duck with only the second ball of the innings. He then bowled Mushfiqur Rahim (11) with Bangladesh on just 18. Ashraful and opener Junaid Siddique then forged a third wicket partnership of 53 runs to steady the innings.
But New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori took a perfect catch at mid-on to dismiss Siddique (32) off a Tim Southee delivery to leave the hosts on 71-3. He then went on to take out Shakib al Hasan (10), with Bangladesh on 86. Bangladesh did themselves no favours, losing three batsmen to run-outs.
Facing the first ball of his international career, Naeem Islam was run out without scoring after a mix-up with Ashraful, who was subsequently dismissed for 40 by Jacob Oram. Oram also bowled out Abdur Razzak (3). Mahmudullah Riad and Shahadat Hossain were also run out, before Mills dismissed Mashrafe bin Murtaza (27) to end the innings and give New Zealand the win and level the series after a shock seven-wicket loss to the hosts in the first match. Oram took two wickets for 23, while Southee and Vettori got one each to add to Mills 3-13.

Bangladesh beat New Zealand for the first time with a seven-wicket victory Thursday in the opening one-day international.
Opener Junaid Siddique scored 85 - including eight boundaries - to lead Bangladesh to 202-3 in reply to New Zealand's 201-9. Bangladesh paceman Mashrafee bin Murtaza and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak shared seven wickets. Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful also struck an unbeaten 60 off 56 balls with five fours and one six.
It was Bangladesh's first win in 12 one-day matches against New Zealand.
